Job Title:       Child and Family Case Manager
Reports To:   Executive Director
Status:          Full Time, Non-Exempt
Salary: $25.55/hour

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

This position works within the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) at WISH. The CAC is a child-friendly and culturally appropriate center for the investigation of child abuse. The child and family case manager must be willing to work with children and families that have experienced abuse.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide on-site immediate support, advocacy, and follow up for clients and families who come through the CAC

  • Meet with the child and upon arrival at the CAC and introduce them to the MDT (Multi-Disciplinary Team) members

  • Provide support to escort/non-offending caregivers while child is being interviewed

  • Explain the CAC process to the non-offending caregiver and answer questions, address caregiver immediate concerns, and facilitate understanding between the caregiver and other team members when necessary

  • Provide age-appropriate education, guidance and recommendations for caregiver and others who will be interacting with the child during the criminal justice process

  • Facilitate referrals for services and assistance as needed throughout the duration of the investigation and criminal justice process

  • Educate non-offending caregivers and others regarding the dynamics of child and the impact of abuse on the child to improve support for the child

  • Maintain case file and digital documentation on all case management activities

  • Provide input on MDT discussions regarding individual children and families during the investigation and criminal justice process

  • Enter and maintain advocacy data in National Children Alliance database and update case files

  • Ability to work with children and clients of all ages that have experienced trauma such as physical or sexual abuse

  • Provide childcare and support during twice yearly parenting education courses.

  • Provide case management for WISH participants in other departments as needed.

  • Ability to communicate directly and respectfully, to work under stressful conditions, use various computer programs, answer business/crisis call

  • Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy; motivated and willing to take initiative

  • Team oriented, maintain strict confidentiality, excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, dependable, consistent, and accountable

  • Experience and/or desire to work with families and children

 PREFERRED EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma

  • Associates degree in related field

 REQUIRED FOR EMPLOYMENT:

  • Successfully complete a fingerprint, background, and criminal history check

  • Must adhere to all WISH policies, procedures and protocols including confidentiality and code of ethics

REQUIRED FOR EMPLOYMENT: 

  • Successfully complete a fingerprint, background, and criminal history check 

  • Complete a 40 hour online Domestic Violence training provided by WISH.

  • Adhere to all WISH policies, procedures and protocols including confidentiality and code of ethics.

  • Cooperates and interacts with WISH staff, volunteers and community agencies with dignity and tact. 

  • Will not engage in intimate relationships with a person seeking or receiving services from WISH. 

  • Models nonviolent behavior and freedom from substance abuse.

  • Must adhere to all confidentiality requirements including, but not limited to WISH’s internal policies, requirements of local, state, and federal law necessary to protect the safety, dignity and privacy of persons seeking or receiving services. 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • Fast paced office environment with moderate to loud noise and frequent, unscheduled interruptions. 

·        Periodic exposure to situations where individuals may be a danger to themselves/others.
